Fans are still unhappy with the PC port of NieR: Automata and many other SquareEnix titles, and matters were only made worse with the recent Game Pass version that saw its release on Microsofts Game Pass app on PC. Much like Automata, Replicant's PC port release with poor optimization, resulting in stuttering, dropped frames, and other graphical issues. NieR: Automata was one of the last generations standout titles, at least for the console versions. While Denuvo's removal will certainly improve Automata's performance, what Steam players were really hoping for was a PC-centered performance patch like the one so recently provided to Nier Replicant. You do have to go into big picture mode the first time to register the controller and configure options, after that you can right click a game in default steam view and change controller buttons and other features. Nier Automata has kept Denuvo longer than most titles, although Denuvo certainly wasn't preventing the game from appearing on pirate torrents after four years. As a Steam owner, it was a bummer to hear that without any word on fixing the version I bought. This can take as little as a few weeks as in the case of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, which had its Denuvo removed less than four weeks after arrival.
